Top 10 Shocking Celebrity Breakups of 2006

When it comes to love in Hollywood, relationships rarely last forever. Some of the most shocking celebrity breakups in Hollywood happened in 2006. Here are the juicy details of the top 10 most shocking celebrity breakups of 2006.

1. Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe
After seven years of marriage and two children, Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe called it quits on their marriage in October. The couple have two kids together, daughter Ava, 7, and son Deacon, 3. The rumor mills speculated for years that the relationship was in trouble, but they always denied the chatter. The word on the street is that Ryan may have had an innapropriate relationship with his co-star Abbie Cornish. While both Ryan and Abbie deny the affair, Reese knew the truth.

2. Sheryl Crow and Lance Armstrong
Grammy award winning Sheryl Crow and champion cyclist Lance Armstrong seemed like the perfect couple. Sheryl supported Lance through his final Tour de France win and he supported her music career. After months of speculation, Sheryl and Lance announced in a joint statement on February 3 that they decided to call off the engagement. This would have been her first marriage and his second. Lance split from his wife Kristin in 2003 after 5 years of marriage and they share custody of Luke, 6, and twins Isabelle and Grace, 4.

3. Paul McCartney and Heather Mills
Sir Paul McCartney and his wife Heather Mills officially separated in May and soon after started talking divorce. Legal experts speculated that Heather could walk away with a big chunk of the estimated $1.5 billion empire. Could that be what sparked all the dirty press? Reports of Heather being a gold-digger as well as graphic photos surfaced of her with one London paper claiming that she spent the better part of her 20's working as a prostitute. Paul, 63, and Heather, 38, duked it out through the media and it kept getting uglier.

4. Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson
Actress Kate Hudson and Black Crowes rocker Chris Robinson parted ways in August after almost six years of marriage. Kate, 27, and Chris, 39, have a 2-year-old son, Ryder Russell Robinson. These two had a quiet life until Owen Wilson came into the picture. The rumor mills alleged that Kate and Owen may have gotten a little too friendly while filming the movie You, Me, and Dupree. Kate and Owen vehemently denied the talk, but the photos proved otherwise.

5. Britney Spears and Kevin Federline
Britney Spears, 24, filed for divorce from her husband Kevin Federline in October on the grounds of 'irreconcilable differences', but I think that's just a Southern gal being polite. What she probably meant to say was, "I'm filing on the grounds that my bum of a husband, who had already impregnated and ditched another woman when he first met me, is basically useless. He can't hold down a real job, he smokes and drinks, and has quite the wandering eye." The good news is that K-Fed, 28, will most likely not contest Britney's request for custody of both boys, seeing as he isn't exactly father of the year material.

6. Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock
After four very short months of marriage, Pamela Anderson filed for divorce from singer Kid Rock in November. "Pamela filed for divorce last week. It wasn't a happy Thanksgiving," Pam's rep, Tracy Nguyen told People magazine. Pamela and Kid (real name: Robert Richie) each filed their own divorce petitions, both claiming irreconcilable differences. Let's just hope she didn't make the same mistake as she did with ex-husband Tommy Lee when she tattooed his name on her ring finger.

7. Hilary Swank and Chad Lowe
Looks like the couples counseling didn't take because Hilary Swank and Chad Lowe filed for divorce in January. It was only a few months prior that Chad and Hilary decided to take some space to think things through. When an interviewer at the Golden Globes referred to Hilary as "single", she flipped out and said that she and Chad were working on their 8 year marriage. Not working hard enough, as the relationship is now coming to an end. Some feel that the breakup may have been a result of Hilary's star shining so much brighter than Chad's. Her career went through the roof, while his has been on the decline for years.

8. Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro
Carmen Electra and rocker Dave Navarro were married in November 2003 and chronicled it all on the 2004 MTV reality show Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen and Dave. Surprisingly, the wacky but seemingly made for each other duo called it quits in July. This was the second marriage for Carmen and the third for Dave as she was briefly married to NBA star Dennis Rodman. Rumor mills smelled trouble with Carmen and Dave for months, but they continued to deny the allegations. Carmen even refuted early rumors saying, "We're fine! I'm not saying we have the perfect marriage or that we're the perfect couple, but we're pretty damn good." Things sure don't look so good to me as the couple is now headed for divorce court.

9. Penelope Cruz and Matthew McConaughey
In June, Penelope Cruz, 32, and Matthew McConaughey, 36, announced that they were "taking time off" as a couple. "Due to busy work schedules and time apart, they mutually decided four weeks ago that separating was the best thing to do at the time," according to astatement from the couple. Why did it take them four weeks to make the announcement? Were they waiting to see if Tom Cruise would take Penelope back? No chance of that as he was already swooning over his new baby with Katie Holmes.

10. Jude Law and Sienna Miller
I admit that this one is is NO way shocking, but still relevant to the list nonetheless. Jude Law and Sienna Miller apparently split again in November. But wait - this time they said it's for good. How is that any different from the other 75 times that they broke up in 2006? Jude cheated on her with the nanny, Sienna cheated on him with just about every one of her co-stars from New York to London. These two clearly have issues and it's about time that they just ended this ridiculously volatile thing they've been calling a relationship.

PARIS' SEXY SISTER ACT!

Queen of Sleaze Paris Hilton keeps it in the family as she cavorts with her sister Nicky.

Sex-mad Paris is well-known for her lack of inhibitions.

But even she was pushing back the boundaries when she posed for this sizzling set of snaps on a visit to the Playboy Mansion in LA.

Paris, wearing stockings and suspenders and an animal-print basque, seems to be loving every minute of being captured bottom to bottom with Nicky, 23.

Their feet are clamped on the roof of their limo as they soak up the limelight.

In another shot Paris, 25, hugs and kisses her wide-eyed little sis - who is dressed in only a silky slip.

Our snapper said: “I know sisters can be a touchy feely but this was taking it to an extreme."

Wesley Snipes Pleads Not Guilty to Federal Tax-Fraud Charges

OCALA, Fla. — Wesley Snipes was released on $1 million bond Friday after pleading not guilty to federal charges that he failed to file tax returns and falsely claimed millions of dollars in refunds.

Snipes appeared two months after he was indicted in central Florida, and then promptly left for the African nation of Namibia to finish filming a cowboy movie. U.S. Magistrate Gary Jones gave him until Jan. 10 to return to his home in Marina del Rey, Calif., when Snipes will have to surrender his passport.

"I look forward to clearing my name and resolving this issue post haste," Snipes said, wearing blue tinted glasses and a suit. "Thank you to all my fans, thank you for all the support from my family, and to my foes, thank you very much as well."

The actor known for films such as the "Blade" trilogy, "Major League" and "Jungle Fever" did not speak during his court appearance in Ocala.

He appeared with three attorneys before departing again for Africa to finish the movie "Gallow Walker." They insisted Snipes was never a fugitive, and said they have been working for weeks with U.S. government officials to respond to the charges.

Snipes, 44, was charged in October with fraudulently claiming refunds totaling nearly $12 million in 1996 and 1997 on income taxes already paid. He was also charged with failure to file returns from 1999 through 2004. If convicted, he faces up to 16 years in prison.

"We believe the evidence in the case will show he has been the victim of unscrupulous tax advice," said Billy Martin, Snipes' lawyer.

Two men were indicted along with Snipes -- Eddie Ray Kahn and Douglas P. Rosile Sr. -- on conspiracy-to-defraud charges.

According to the indictment, Snipes had his taxes prepared by accountants with a history of filing false returns to reap payments for clients. The firm American Rights Litigators would receive 20 percent of refunds from clients, according to the indictment.

"Gallow Walker" will be completed next week and be released sometime next fall, said Ian Thompson, spokesman for Sheer Films, which is producing the movie. Snipes' arrest is not expected to delay production, Thompson said.

Martin said Snipes left the United States to film the movie long before the indictment.

"We want to make it clear that he did not avoid returning to the United States. He's always been ready to return," Martin said.

Myleene bikini auction raises Ј7,000

The online auction of I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! runner-up Myleene Klass' bikini has raised £7,000 for the victims of collapsed Christmas savings firm Farepak.

Sexy Myleene, who adopted a policy of a shower every hour in the jungle, had originally hoped her two-piece would fetch about £3,000 on website eBay.

But following a flurry of late bids, when the auction closed at 22:00 GMT last night the generous user known only as herbiesure was able to get his or her hands on the famous bikini.

More than 150,000 people lost an average of £400 following the collapse of Farepak, an event which the former Hear'Say singer dubbed "despicable and evil".

"So if selling my little bikini can bring so much joy then that is amazing," she said.

It is thought that the £7,000 will go towards almost 20,000 Christmas hampers from the Farepak relief fund.

Real-life break-up for Jennifer and Vince

Despite never publicly admitting they were a couple, representatives for Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn have now confirmed the pair have split up.

Vaughniston, as they have been dubbed by the media, have split up after Jen visited Vince in London a few weeks ago.

Their reps told People magazine the break-up was a mutual decision and that the pair remain 'good friends'.

The two started dating more than a year ago after starring together in the movie 'The Break-Up'.

Her romance with Vince was Jen's first relationship after divorcing Brad Pitt.

They didn't speak about their relationship in public, but were spotted canoodling in the States and during a European holiday last summer.

Speculation of wedding bells mounted, with reports even suggesting that their pal Oprah Winfrey was planning to throw an $8 million nuptial party for the two.

However, rumours of trouble in paradise surfaced when Vince started filming 'Fred Clause' in London in the autumn.

He threatened to sue various media outlets who ran stories of him allegedly cheating on Jen which he denied.

Kate Winslet 'disturbed' over skinny models

British actress Kate Winslet has spoken out over the 'unbelievably disturbing' trend of super thin stars.

The 31-year-old mother of two, who is currently promoting her film 'The Holiday', told BBC One's Sunday AM that she resents the fact that the 'image of perfection' is 'just getting thinner and thinner'.

'Titanic' star Kate said she has bucked this trend by refusing to give in to pressures to slim down to tiny sizes.

She hoped that 'in some small way', she has made a difference.

Kate explained that she does what she can in her house to keep things realistic. 'We don't have any magazines in the house,' she said, adding that these publications are 'damaging'.

'I don't want to be a finger pointer...but young girls are very impressionable,' according to Kate.

She has a six-year-old daughter named Mia from her marriage to Jim Threapleton. Kate and hubby number two, Sam Mendes, has a son Joe, who is three.
